Just in case anyone is confused, upset, offended or whatever let me state VERY CLEARLY that the original image is not mine nor am I claiming that it is.

This is merely one of a series of experiments in colour grading, ageing and manipulation. I am trying to perfect a Steampunk treatment that will give the pictures a suitably aged appearance but also achieve some impossible effects (like steampunk)

So I have gone for a kind of early sepia calotype treatment which is the type of photography perfected by William Fox Talbot in 1841. I think this is exactly the right sort of era for the Steampunk aesthetic.

I also wanted a fairly heavy grain and some irregular vignetting (the shading or bleaching that happens around the edges of old photos) as it certainly adds to the effect with old style pictures.

I have also added some lens imperfections such as distorted or blurred focus toward the edges along with some artificial depth of field as old style equipment would not be as reliable as modern day cameras.

However this is Steampunk so it can't just be an ordinary picture so really I'm trying to perfect an immpossible (for the period) combination of early Calotype photography with a hint of Technicolour or perhaps a Polaroid process.

I don't want to lose some of the colours that occur in the photos so this blend will be great if I can get it right.

I AM ONLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE AGEING, COLOUR GRADING AND MANIPULATION.

ONCE AGAIN... THE ORIGINAL IMAGE IS NOT MINE

I hope that is clear.
